I got started on this journey for health reasons. I realized I was at the largest of my life and never had to go to the Doctor in the past, so I went. I was put on blood pressure, told I had pre-diabetes, and that I needed to lose weight. After finding the love of my life, and with having kids, I wanted to be around for a long time to enjoy this family. I told myself I was never going to be this way again and switched the mental light. I began simply watching what I eat and walking and hiking many miles. I joined Harrisonburg 24/7 Fitness in 2024 and have gradually increased intensity, time at the gym, and even more strict on diet and better choices. For several years now, I get on the wagon and then fall off. I finally decided to get my head in the game after a long time of yo-yo gym time at the beginning of August 2024. My biggest accomplishments have been: increased self-esteem, reduced stress, and improved energy levels . I have now created a lifestyle that fits me. I have pushed through setbacks, stressors and periods of low motivation because I want to be that consistent positive person for those around me, myself included. What is your motivation? My Nieces and Nephew. I want to be a positive influence on them and keep up with their energy. But I also do it for myself. I want to be a better person, both mentally and physically. I was overweight and the doctors told me I needed to lose weight. My heart wasn’t doing good and if I did not start living a healthy lifestyle, I would need surgery. In the past, I had signed up at other gyms and would quit after 1-2 weeks. I felt like my body couldn’t handle the gym but after signing up at Harrisonburg Family Fitness, I realized it wasn’t my body that couldn’t do it, it was the motivation I was missing that I needed to get going. I began my fitness journey and started living healthy in November of 2023. I want to be healthy for my kids. Before I couldn’t play with them much due to my weight. TRUST THE PROCESS: “When I workout one of the main reasons is to be more discipline in different aspects of my life and working out will make me reach that goal. Working out has made me see the change in me and to continue doing my best.
